Company Culture Essay

Employee wellness walks at Breckenridge Grand Vacations“A number of attributes combine to create the culture of a place or, in our case, a company. While each of these characteristics is important, the aspects of the BGV culture that are most meaningful to me are the emphasis on family and the spirit of giving back to our community. My co-workers are wonderful people – we laugh together, spend time outside of work together, and on those days when I have trouble wiping my feet at the door, I know they’re there for me with hugs and sympathetic ears. It’s incredibly comforting to have this type of support from the people one works with, and this compassion spreads beyond our departments to our owners, guests, and community.

I am constantly inspired by how active BGV is in our local community –whether that means supporting different non-profit organizations, adopting families for the holidays, or actively striving to lessen the impact we have on our environmental community. This culture of giving sets a great example for all of our employees as well as our local community. BGV believes in doing the right thing, and this belief is infectious.”

Jess Hoover, Sustainability

“One of the first things I noticed when I started at BGV is the number of employees who have been with the company for 5 years, 10 years, or more.  Employees stay because they are genuinely happy and feel valued as employees and as individuals.  The environment is positive, collaborative and fun.

This positive environment contributes to a feeling of pride and ownership in one’s job.  The employees here regularly go above and beyond to provide exceptional service to our owners, to each other, and to the community.  I’m proud to tell people I work at BGV.”

Linda Nelson, Accounting

“I have worked for several timeshare companies over the past 10 years including Wyndham, Intrawest, Vacation Village Resorts, Tahoe Beach & Ski and Diamond Resorts. Company culture was never a part of my work experience until I moved to Breckenridge to work for BGV.  I loved the fact that the company culture was actually explained to me by John Liner during my interview process in order to make sure I was the type of person who could embrace ONE BGV before I was even hired.  The culture here as it was explained to me was actually a factor that drew me to move here because I knew I would be a name and not a number.  This is the first time I have felt as though I am part of a family instead of just being part of a sales team.  I can remember countless times when Sales and operations were out to get each other and made each other’s lives miserable when I was working for other companies.  It’s amazing to finally be working WITH  a team of people who all have the same goal in every department.  We truly are the best in sales because we are the best in service.  What a concept!  Thank you BGV for this wonderful opportunity!”

“It’s about Breckenridge’s best resorts being built, sold and serviced with passion, enthusiasm and pride.

It’s about rock solid values of integrity and loyalty at its foundation.

It’s an environment where employees are empowered to seek challenge, take the extra step and excel.

It’s about working as a team, relishing the process and celebrating the success.

It’s about hundreds of hands that build this pyramid higher and higher every day.”

Employee volunteers at Breckenridge Grand Vacations“I believe the company culture at Breckenridge Grand Vacations is the value of family, friends, guests, owners and community all mixed together with some fun. When I walked in the door on that first day, I thought it would take time to become “one of the family,” but that lasted a mere second! Everyone made a conscious effort to make me feel welcome.

BGV works hard to ensure all employees are given the tools to do their job well. Departments strive to cooperate and assist whenever needed, teamwork is not a phrase at BGV, it is a practice. Great Vacations Sessions offer insight about the company and its history. Employees are shown their value of contribution, and are rewarded on many levels.”

Daniel Ramirez, Engineering

“One year ago, I spoke with a gal who had worked for BGV for quite a few years. She totally sold me working here. I made a decision to leave my comfort zone to find out what Breckenridge and BGV could offer me. What I have found is a place to call home. My co-workers are my family and some of the best friends I have ever met. The culture in which we work is that of professionalism, integrity, and team work. I am thrilled to have been brought in to this company and have plans to stay for years to come.”

Sarah Olson, Soothe Spa

“In all the companies where I have worked, employees have always been treated with equality, respect, and different employee incentives, but BGV has gone above and beyond one’s expectations as an employer. The company truly cares – it is not just lip service. I always refer my friends to apply for a job with BGV because if they do, they will not regret.”
